Susie
Susie started cycling in 2000 for a sports injury: a fractured pelvis while training for a marathon. She told her orthopedic doctor that she wanted to learn to ride a bike like the pelatons she saw around the Stanford campus. He recommended Team in Training. Her introduction to cycling was this program: there were no female cycling programs at this time. If it were not for the support of the team and most of all the coaches she had, she feels she would not be where she is to this day. Learning how to ride a bike, not feel intimidated climbing an interstate ramp and conquering the fear of descending (how she fractured her pelvis). Her coaches instilled confidence, patience and a sense of motivation/goal setting. As for road biking, Susie has had the opportunity to cycle 27,000 plus miles in California , Nevada and Oregon . Her biggest accomplishment: obtaining the 5 pass jersey for Death Ride (Tour of the California Alps) in 2005 and the Triple Crown; three double centuries (200 miles each) in one year's time, in 2006. Because of the great coaching she experienced with TNT, Susie was able to instill in others that sense of confidence, and motivation/goal setting. She coached for the past 6 years for the Leukemia Society as well as Cinderella training rides for the Velogirls. She is excited to work/ride with the LunaChix to spread my passion/enthusiasm for cycling.
