Team Luna Chix - Bay Area Cycling for Women

Emily D.

Emily Dellas has enjoyed participating in a variety of sports throughout her life but really got into cycling while living in New York City after college.  At the time, her bicycle allowed her to exercise outdoors and granted her a freedom to explore neighborhoods and gain a unique City view that was difficult-to-impossible to experience by subway and walking alone.  Hacking about on clunky hybrids in nothing more than running shoes, Emily has completed multi-day rides around New York, New England, and Paris, France.

Upon returning to the Bay Area in 2004, cycling once again became a favored pastime and an efficient, enjoyable way to rediscover the City where she grew up.  She made the plunge, upgraded to a proper road bike and loves the elegance and speed by which she now takes to the city streets.  Her favorite rides include zipping up and down the quiet roads in the Presidio where a particular vantage of the Golden Gate Bridge makes her fall in love with San Francisco all over again.

Harboring a life-long interest in health, wellness, and nutrition Emily loves the opportunity to work with the Lunachix, encouraging women to "Get out and play."  Emily owns and operates her own business, First Class Cooking a hands-on cooking school in San Francisco.  Just as the Lunachix hope to get women more familiar with cycling, in Emily's cooking classes, she introduces her students to key culinary skills, nutritious ingredients, and presents them with tasty, manageable recipes that make flavorful, healthy eating an easy part of everyday life.
