Team Luna Chix - Bay Area Cycling for Women

Denise P.

Denise has long been community minded; working in the transit industry for eight years then the non profit world for 10. She currently works for a large staffing agency, helping people find jobs. How great is that?!

Denise fell in love with cycling in 1995 when she decided to try her hand at it by entering the Mt. Diablo Challenge. She had a blast, and saw many parallels in life; goal setting, hard work, and payoff of accomplishment. It introduced her to the “community” of cycling.

She went on to ride many centuries and lost count several years ago at 30+. In 1998 she joined the Leukemia Lymphoma Society's Team In Training cycle team, training for a century and raising funds for a cure. The “team with a purpose” experience was a fit and she moved into assistant coaching; coaching teams in 11 centuries all over the country including the infamous Death Ride.

Her goal is to help people learn the skills to ride with a purpose--whether it's to get fit, ride centuries, race, commute, ride to raise funds and awareness, or just have fun. She's looking forward to once again teaching bike skills and watching women develop “bike love” and join the cycling community.

When she's not riding her bike she might be found be tele skiing, snow camping, or backpacking.
